Planning your family’s photography session does not have to be stressful. Here is why.

Problem: Stressing Out About Family Pictures

So often, at the end of a family session, someone, usually the mom will tell me something like, “Oh, this wasn’t nearly as stressful as I expected it to be. I’ve been worrying about (kids’ behavior, husband behavior, getting everyone ready on time, etc.) since I booked our session.”  As glad as I am to hear that it actually was NOT stressful during the session (my whole goal), I wish she would have reached out to me to help her handle the stressful thoughts BEFORE she arrived at our session.

Solution: Get Thought Coaching

As an integrative life coach, I have trained to identify thoughts that are causing negative emotions and how to change that into something positive. It’s a skill that has helped me handle stress and emotions from the deepest beliefs to the most insignificant little thoughts, and I extend that service to my families as they prepare for their sessions. Going into the session with a positive mindset will set everyone up for success and ensure we all have fun while we eternalize your family’s legacy. An example I like is, “We can be ourselves here and still create beautiful photographs that I will love.” This is my example.

Coaching is Specific to You

Everyone has different thoughts and beliefs about any given situation based on past experiences that have helped to shape those beliefs. This is why there is no “one size fits all” approach to thought coaching. It can be so widely variable between individuals even when the thought is similar.

Thoughts Create Outcomes

So you believe some idea about a given situation, maybe because of past experiences or other people’s stories. Your brain always wants to be right, so it will seek out any information to prove that belief or thought to be true. Then, your brain tells you to act on that information, which, in turn, validates that belief because … your brain always wants to be right. Your thoughts literally do create the outcomes. So the way to create the outcome you WANT instead of what you don’t want is to change your thoughts. You don’t see this yourself, which is why you need coaching about it.
